Helen Cicino Fabian has been an attorney helping companies with every type of employment issue imaginable for over 20 years. Most recently Ms. Fabian served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel, running the legal department for one of California’s largest and most well respected non-profit health care systems including 6 hospitals and over 12,000 employees with both a unionized and non-union workforce. Prior to becoming General Counsel, Ms. Fabian served as their Senior Vice President of Human Resources and spent the last 7 years there. Previously, she served as in house counsel for a publicly held, $2 billion, 10,000 employee manufacturer, as outside employment counsel at two litigation firms, including the worlds’ largest employment law firm and as the principal at her own human resource and legal consulting firm.
Ms. Fabian, a frequently published author, she has lectured extensively and has provided employment law training to all levels of human resource professionals, working with the Institute for Applied Management and Law, the National Business Institute, and the California Employers’ Group. She served as managing editor of a legal book series published by Entrepreneur Press. Ms. Fabian obtained her law degree from Loyola Law School. She holds a B.A. in Journalism and a B.A. in Communications Arts and Sciences from the University of Southern California.
Ms. Fabian was named as one of the top lawyers in Southern California in 2005 and 2006 issues of Los Angeles Magazine and Southern California Super Lawyers after being nominated by and voted on by her peers. Trained in Mediation at Pepperdine’s School of Dispute Resolution, Ms. Fabian has the ability to come up with creative solutions to quickly resolve even the most difficult matters.
Ms. Fabian served as Chair of the Labor and Employment section of the Orange County Bar Association in 2003 - 2004 and on the Board of Directors for the Orange County Bar Association in 2006 -2007. In her role as healthcare General Counsel, she has served as an advisor to the Board of Directors of MemorialCare, as well as the Compensation Committee and Governance Committee.
Ms. Fabian offers her expertise, experience, and advice to help companies work through all types of employee issues, investigations, and dispute resolution; provide legal and employee relations training to management and human resources; and draft employee communications, including company policies, procedures, and handbooks. She strives to save her clients money by partnering with management to offer common sense solution that balance legal requirements with business needs.
